Insulated Jacket Ball Valve
Insulated Jacket Ball Valve (Worm-Gear Operated)
This insulated ball valve is engineered for applications where process fluid temperature must be maintained to prevent solidification, wax deposition, or viscosity increase. The valve body is enclosed in a steam or thermal-oil jacket that keeps the flow path and ball at a consistent operating temperature, ensuring reliable shut-off and smooth flow control for heavy oil, bitumen, asphalt, paraffin, and similar media.
The trunnion-mounted ball design distributes line pressure through upper and lower stems rather than the seat rings, delivering low operating torque, tight shut-off, and dependable performance under high-pressure and large-bore conditions. A worm-gear actuator provides precise quarter-turn operation with high reduction ratio, making manual operation easy even on large sizes. Standard features include a blow-out proof stem, anti-static device, and secondary seal for emergency seat injection.
The jacket design allows steam or hot oil to circulate around the valve cavity through dedicated inlet and outlet nozzles, eliminating cold spots and preventing media freeze-up during shutdown. The valve is suitable for oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, and district heating systems where temperature maintenance is critical.
Available in flanged ends to ASME B16.5 / EN 1092, sizes NPS 2 through 24 (DN50-DN600), pressure Class 150 through 600 (PN16-PN100). Body materials include WCB, LCC, WC9, CF8, CF8M, CF3M, and duplex. Seat options include PTFE, RPTFE, Devlon, PEEK, and metal-to-metal for high-temperature or abrasive service.
