Eccentric Hemispherical Ball Valve
Eccentric Hemispherical Ball Valve (Worm-Gear Operated, Flanged Ends)
This eccentric hemispherical valve uses a half-ball disc mounted on an offset rotating shaft. As the valve opens, the half-ball swings completely away from the seat without sliding contact, eliminating seat friction and wear. As it closes, the eccentric motion cams the half-ball firmly into the seat, producing a wedge-effect seal with reliable shut-off. This mechanism combines the advantages of a ball valve with the wear resistance of an eccentric plug valve.
The flanged cast steel body is designed for service with slurries, ash, powders, fibers, wastewater, and other media containing suspended solids. The full-bore flow path minimizes pressure drop and prevents material buildup. Seat options include resilient soft seats for bubble-tight sealing and metal-to-metal hardfaced seats for abrasive or high-temperature service. The worm-gear operator with handwheel provides high reduction ratio and smooth quarter-turn control.
The valve is widely used in mining, steel mills, power plants, cement production, wastewater treatment, and ash handling systems where conventional ball valves suffer from particle entrapment and rapid seat wear. Available with electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic actuation for automated operation.
